Esta estación de la cosecha nos da una ventaja, debido a que no competimos con algunos otros exportadores grandes, como México, Brasil y la India. Durante este tiempo, la madurez de la plantación ha permitido que Ecuador aumente los volúmenes de exportación a niveles superiores a las 7 millones de cajas (4.2 Kg. cada una) en la campaña pasada y sigue en aumento debido a la incorporación de plantas en la producción y a la madurez de ellas.
Nuestro país cuenta con varias plantas del tratamiento y de empaque, que proporcionan el servicio a los exportadores nacionales siendo también exportadores a los diversos mercados mundiales. Todos en conjunto poseen una capacidad instalada para tratamiento con agua caliente de 800 toneladas por día y una capacidad de almacenamiento de más de 400.000 cajas de exportación, proveyendo trabajo para aproximadamente 1.500 personas durante la estación de la cosecha, trabajando aproximadamente el 70% de la capacidad instalada.
